Bring on the Deep X Cuts!

Playing songs that aren't the big hit singles is unwise--at least that's what they tell you in Program Director School. "Only play the hits. Only play songs that are on MTV. People aren't smart enough to learn different tracks." That's what you hear in seminars where radio people tell you what they think is right.

Today, I'm saying SCREW THAT!

We're kicking off a Deep X Cut Weekend at 3 pm. Lots of deep tracks--old and new--featured all weekend long.

I must have been goofing off in the back of the room at my last radio programmers convention.

Deep X Cut Weekend

We're trying to have this ready to go this weekend. It's a lot of work, but it should fly. A Deep X Cut Weekend! We plan to dig deep into new albums and old albums for tracks that aren't the "hit single." You'll hear deep cuts from the new Tool, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and AFI albums, plus deep cuts from classic albums by Nirvana, U2, Pearl Jam, Depeche Mode, Rage Against The Machine and more. We'll dig deep two or three times per hour. That means you'll hear deeper cuts. You'll probably still hear "Dani California" a bit, but we'll dig deep into the new CD for more gems.

What do you think? Will it suck?

Sad Day

It is truly a sad day today. We all hoped for a better conclusion in the search for Destiny Norton. My condolences to the family.

Some are quick to accuse the police of not doing their job. Remember that police aren't always quick to divulge their knowledge in the process of an investigation. Telling us everything they know while they work toward an arrest could create problems.

Now that we know the sad outcome, we can now hope for justice.
