Bring on the Deep X Cuts!
Playing songs that aren't the big hit singles is unwise--at least that's what they tell you in Program Director School. "Only play the hits. Only play songs that are on MTV. People aren't smart enough to learn different tracks." That's what you hear in seminars where radio people tell you what they think is right.
Today, I'm saying SCREW THAT!
We're kicking off a Deep X Cut Weekend at 3 pm. Lots of deep tracks--old and new--featured all weekend long.
I must have been goofing off in the back of the room at my last radio programmers convention.

10:20 am "Supermassive Black Hole" Muse (Not the current single, but I like it. Thus, it is a Deep X Cut. Get it?)

We didnt get here by following the rules...F*ck em!
Todd,
I really enjoyed the Deep Cuts weekend. I heard songs on the radio that I have only heard on my iPod and car CD player. It was fund to turn on the radio and hear something different. Way to keep things fresh.
