X96 in Rolling Stone magazine

A few months ago, I was contacted by Rolling Stone magazine for a story about alternative radio stations that are successful. Several alternative stations, including the one in New York City, have gone away over the past couple of years. They wanted to run a story about X96 and its success in Salt Lake City of all places. While we try to downplay our good fortune on the air, KXRK is one of the longest running alternative stations in the country, and often boasts ratings higher than KROQ in Los Angeles (respective to population in each market, of course.)

This is all because of your continued support, and I am forever grateful.

The article (which I haven't seen yet) will talk to a few radio stations that are successful in an era where radio is sometimes perceived as stale. It will be in the Summer Double issue of Rolling Stone and will be on stands one week from today.

I must admit that I am giddy to be featured in THE music magazine that I've been reading since high school.

Movies About Gladiators

So...do you like movies about gladiators?

I do.

I've had this litle fascination with movies like Airplane! and Naked Gun. Tonight, I'm gonna kick back and watch Naked Gun and eat some pizza.

Last night at X96 4-Play, we had a great time. You need to check out the great local bands we feature every Wednesday night at the Gallivan Center. It's free!

4-Play tonight!

Tonight is the first ever 4-Play at the Gallivan Center--that's downtown Salt Lake at 200 South and Main. It's a nice outdoor theater, just in case you've never been there.

You'll see 4 local bands and it's free! Tonight one of my favorite local bands is playing--Off The Veil.

(They're so sexy!)

They're on right at 7:00, followed by Numbs, Art of Kanly, and The Management.

Support local music with X96!

X96 Big Ass Show 2006

Just so you know, the X96 Big Ass Show is set for Saturday, September 23, 2006. Details are coming in early August. So far, it's looking like a sweet line-up of bands.

Nacho Libre

Like my new haircut? I needed something light for the summer. (The lighting on this picture makes me look wicked.)

Over the weekend, my wife and I saw Nacho Libre. It's OK. Without Jack Black it would have been a bit stinky. I knew Jack Black would amuse me with his funny faces and all around wacky screen antics. He even gets in a couple of brief songs, but the best song, and perhaps funniest part of the movie plays over the credits.

It's OK.
