Live Depeche Mode DVD

Check out the new Depeche Mode CD/DVD Touring The Agnel: Live in Milan if you get a chance. You get all the memories of last year's show, including Martin Gore wearing his feathered wings. The do a kick ass version of "Shake The Disease" sung by Martin and accompanied with a single piano. It is SWEET!

my moldy hat

On the Thursday before the X96 Big Ass Show, I officiated a sophomore football game at Viewmont. We had a lot of rain that day, so my white hat was rather moist. When I got home, I put it in it's plastic hat caddy so it would be ready for my next game. (I didn't work any football games last week because I was busy getting things ready for the X96 Big Ass Show.) Last night, I pulled my hat caddy out and noticed that my white had was covered in mold! The lesson learned is this: don't put a wet, sweaty cap in it's container.

Muse

I went to the Muse show last night. Those guys are amazing musicians. They are fastly becoming one of my favorite bands. I was impressed with their interview yesterday, especially the manner in which they went into Airwaves to sign autographs and pose for pictures with everyone that came to the station. You have to respect artists that are cordial with their fans.

Big Ass Thank You!

The X96 Maverik Big Ass Show 2006 is now a memory, and I can't thank you enough for your constant support. As the day closed and the crowd headed to the parking lot, I wandered around the fair park by myself reflecting, and observing the aftermath. Several listeners patted me on the back and thanked X96 for a great time. Here are my big memories of the day...
1. The weather actually turned out nice. True, the ground was a little wet, but the day was great. I even got a little sunburn!
2. Kerry, Bill, Gina, Richie T, Corey, Portia, MJ, Andypants, and of course Artie Fufkin (and his inflatable haunted "hut".) This is the best team of radio personalities in Salt Lake.
3. "Smitty" the X96 Corporate Rat perched atop the restrooms at the Fair Park, looming over the crowd like a bad special effect in a 1950's Godzilla movie.
4. Yellowcard thanking us for supporting their band, and seeing them at the Graywhale autograph tent staying way longer than their schedule actually permitted so they could meet as many fans as possible.
5. Hawthorne Heights treating every person who asked for an autograph with such genuine friendly appreciation.
6. Hoobastank not bothering to show up for an on air interview. What's up with that? X96 is one of very few stations in the country playing their new album.
7. The Playdead Movement. These kids freaking rock!
8. Branden Steineckert (former drummer for The Used) coming to watch the show. He's a Utah boy through and through and is nice to every kid who wanted to talk to him.
9. Joel Pack from Broke.
10. Every single person who attended. Your support helps to sculpt X96 and makes it way more than just another radio station. Thank you.

Backstage with the lovely Erika and the bad-ass Regan from The Playdead Movement.
