Well, step right up ladies and gentlemen, because we have the cure for what ails you. A Deep X Cut Weekend! Artie Fufkin kicks it off today at 3 pm. If it's not a hit single, we're gonna play it.

My 80's Movie Fantasy

I had this stupid dream the other night--a dream no doubt inspired by my prescription sleeping pills. I was in an 80's movie and my character had to burst through the doors into the high school while riding a skateboard and playing a guitar. The song was "Ball of Confusion" performed by Love and Rockets. Someone, please call John Hughes and get him out of retirement. I've got a perfect teen movie he should make!

Double Dog Dare

Today's Double Dog Dare request (one of them, at least) on Nuke 'Em's 90s at Noon was recorded on Monday. The caller wanted a song I couldn't find. We finally tracked it down, but it had a few naughty words in it. Corey O'Brien was kind enough to cut the bad words and now I can finally play it. Does anyone remember the band Quicksand?

Zodiac

I saw the movie Zodiac over the weekend and I loved it. I've been a fan of director David Fincher's work and this movie, although toned down considerably compared to films like Fight Club, he still stitches together a compelling story. It's a long movie, but it didn't feel long. The characters performed by a brilliant cast kept my attention throughout. The fact that it is a true story is also interesting--and eerie.

Talking Heads song was from 1977. Chris Cornell was from 2007. That was 30 years between the two songs.
