The Simpsons Movie

I didn't think I'd actually attend the X96 midnight premier of The Simpsons Movie, but as the early evening dragged on my wife and I became giddy over it. Eventually we threw caution to the wind and decided to go to the movie despite our need to go to work this morning.

I loved it!

Sure, I'm a Simpsons geek, and we're hard to please. The only true way to make us happy is to have a 5 hour film that goes in depth with every single ancillary character living in Springfield. But it was great. They maintained their identity, too. It wasn't an immediate run to the gutter for profanity and violence that television can't allow. Oh, they do cross the television line plenty--and when they do it is surprising and quite humorous. You'll be pleased at the spice that the theater can provide, but it is moderate and applied with great humor.

I could list reasons to include more from all the many characters, but then I'd be demanding a 5 hour movie that even Comic Book Guy couldn't sit through.

They even take direct satirical shots at themselves and the concept of the fact that they made a Simpsons movie in the first place.

Simpsonize Me!

I tried to go to the Simpsonizeme.com site and it will not work. After having the site crash repeatedly, I finally made myself into a Simpsons character. Then it wouldn't save correctly to my computer. And now the link of my character to their site has changed into something I did not design. At the risk of sounding like Comic Book Guy, I want to say, "Worst website ever!"
