Dead Mouse

I think this was a joint effort by my cats and my dog, but somehow last night we ended up with a mouse corpse on the livingroom carpet. My wife had to get up to take the dog outside in the middle of the night for him to do his business. On the return trip inside, he must have found the deceased rodent, scooped it up in his mouth, and then deposited it on the floor.

Our home is only a couple years old, and you somehow never picture a slobbery, disfigured mouse corpse on the carpet when you first move in.

I'm no crime scene investigator, but I believe the mouse was initially terminated by one of my many kitties. Because of the decomposition, I think the mouse's body was buried and chewed on multiple times by the beagle for the past several days before he brought it into the house. He has stashed a few items (bones, treats, food, horse crap) in the back yard for later use. I think the mouse was one of his favorites.

Oh the joys of owning a dog.
