Is this thing on?

When we were at KUTV on Wednesday helping out with the fundraiser for The Adoption Exchange, Mayor Rocky Anderson stopped by to show his support. Say what you will about his political decisions, but this guy seems genuine and at least believes in what he does. He's also very approachable and was happy to sit down with me for a few minutes and chat about adoption. The Mayor of Salt Lake on X96with little old me? It makes me think that this is a real radio station.

11:20 am and no blog

What am I? Some kind of slacker? Don't I realize that people are flocking to this blog for my daily post and I'm not providing one? You must be so disappointed by my lack of content today.

Please comment. It will be more entertaining than this post.

I suspect Artie Fufkin...

Um ... okay. Today is my birthday. And apparently Artie Fufkin knew about it because this is what my cubicle looks like this morning...

Looks like I'll be leaving a trail of glitter everywhere I go today.

Thanks, Artie. (No, you're not in trouble for this.)

1:20 pm "American Dreaming" Dead Can Dance (If I can't play Dead Can Dance on my birthday, then something's wrong with this world. What a great song!)

Check out the lyrics:

American Dreaming

I need my conscience to keep watch over me
To protect me from myself
So I can wear honesty like a crown on my head
When I walk into the promised land

We've been too long American dreaming
And I think we've all lost the way
Fair long somnambulistic maniacal in the dark

I'm in love with an American girl
Well she's my best friend
I love her surreptitious smile
That hides the pain within her

And we'll go dancing and rings of laughter
We’ll leave along by the shores
Fair long in the bounds of rapture, speed along for the lost

Yeah-ee, on the lea the rising wind blows
Fay-hee, on the lea the rising wind blows
How long, how long?

Fair long in the grounds of allegiances we left behind
Turned back by the foot of the doorway
Live the lost and found

We've been too long American dreaming
I think we've all lost the heart
Fair long somnambulistic maniacal in the dark

Yeah-ee, on the lea the rising wind blows
Fay-hee, on the lea the rising wind blows
How long, how long?

Utah Aids Foundation Oscar Night

Last night Mrs. Nuke 'Em and I were guests at the annual Oscar Night party presented by the Utah Aids Foundation. Thanks to Stu and Sharon Young from Acordia Insurance for inviting us to this gala event. It was quite fun. There was tons of excellent food and lots of fun. The event is a formal affair, so I wore my suit. And checkered tie. And pink Van's.

We ate, mingled, and helped raise money for the Utah Aids Foundation while watching a telecast of the Oscars. This is one of very few events sanctioned by the Academy Awards, and they provided printed programs just like the ones at the event in Hollywood.
