I'm off to Ely tomorrow...

My train ride--excuse me--my excursion at the controls of a diesel locomotive will be Sunday morning at 10 am the Nevada Northern Railroad. My question is this: when I'm done geeking out at the train museum, is there anything else to do in Ely? Anything at all?

Watch for pictures Monday or Tuesday of me driving a real train.

Burning Down The House

Last night at 1:35 am my wife awakened me saying, "What's that smell?" I wasn't particularly gassy last night, so I knew it wasn't me. There was also a beeping sound coming from my home office.

The odor was electrical ... like when something is shorting out and about to burst into flames. It turns out that my surge protector / power strip for my computer was so hot that I couldn't even touch it. I quickly unplugged it and removed it from the house.

Does anybody know what the hell is up with that? My house is for sale, but I don't want it to burn to the ground.

Fortunately my computer and its hard drive filled with my many unpublished novels was not harmed.

Is my fire insurance paid up? I better check on that. Hello ... State Farm...?

My Train Ride

This Sunday I'll be in Ely, Nevada fulfilling my silly dream of driving an honest to god train. I haven't been this excited about anything since childhood--well, except for my honeymoon.

Remember that we're kicking off an X-Sets Weekend this Friday at 3 pm for the Pioneer Day weekend.

X-Freaking-Sets Weekend

Hey faithful blog readers...

Get ready for an X-Sets Weekend for Pioneer Days. Let X96 supply the background music for your picnics, family events, parade route camp-outs, drunken parties--whatever you do to commemorate Utah's heritage. This time, we're digging deeper into the archive and you'll sometimes get a super-sized X-Set with three songs.

Here is a picture of me at the Van's Warped Tour from last Saturday. (Hey Todd, 1985 called. They want their wardrobe back!)
