Hot Cars @ Auto Show

First of all let me explain that I'm a big sissy when it comes to cars. I don't know anything about the mechanical functions under the hood. I'm not the type of guy who knows anything about how to change a transmission or rebuild an engine.

But I do know a hot car when I see one.

Last night I did a live remote broadcast from the Utah International Auto Show at the Southtown Expo Center. (It continues Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.) It is always fun to attend this event because they have all the new 2006 models, plus some seriously intense concept cars on display. With most of the new 2006 models, you can get inside them and look under the hood and check out all aspects of the car.

Here's me in a Dodge Ram Bighorn Edition. Yup. That sumbitch has got a Hemi.

I also brought our very own Andypants who works the graveyard shift (weeknights 12 am to 5 am) so he could see what it's like to do a live broadcast from an event. We had some listeners ask for his autograph on a Radio From Hell X96th Ward Cookbook.

Andypants signs his first autograph. He's growing up so fast. Soon he'll be a big-boy DJ.

My New Home PICTURES!

For my faithful blog readers, you know that for several months the Nuke 'Em family has been waiting for the construction of our new home to be completed. Well, after several months, we're very close to moving in. We hope to be in by the end of January.

This has been fun and a lot of work. This is our second home and we've been saving like crazy to make it possible. We really wanted to find a place where we could settle down and stay forever. I am pleased to show you a picture of the new place.

I am pleased with the style of the home, plus it sits on a large lot where I have plenty of room to park my truck.

These are my neighbors, Wanda and Roland. Nice folks.

Join me today from 5 to 7 at the Southtowne Expo Center for my live broadcast at the Utah International Auto Expo. Free hugs!

10:20 am "Original Sin" INXS (The hideous new lead singer from the stupid TV "reality" show makes me want to puke. This is the real thing.)

1:20 pm "Lover I Don't Have To Love" Bright Eyes (Last time I played this song, a Bright Eyes fan bitched me out for playing her favorite band on the radio. "You're ruining them by playing them on the radio," was her claim. So let's play 'em on the radio again and again. Like my friend Jack, I play what I want!)

I haven't posted yet today!

Oh my god! It's 12:13 pm and I haven't' even posted my blog for the day! What's my deal? Am I slacking?

Sorry for the delay, sometimes I get a little bit distracted with my real job as program director of X96. This place is busy and it keeps me on my toes. If you ever thought that I'm only here when you hear me on the air from 10 am until 2 pm, you're slightly mistaken. Some days are as long as 11 hours. I'm usually here on the weekends for a couple of hours finishing a few projects.

Of course, I'm not griping. My job is fun. It's just a little crazy sometimes.

Fall Out Boy

There has been some confusion regarding the X96 Freeloader offer for Fall Out Boy tickets. Here are the facts. The first 960 floor tickets are currently on sale to X96 Freeloader Card holders at Smith's Tix, McKay Events Center, and at www.x96.com. Tickets are $30 plus service fees.

The show is April 11 at the McKay Events Center in Orem.

Please accept my sincere apologies if there was any confusion.

Todd's Book Club

I'm pleased to introduce Todd's Book Club. I'll post information about books I like every so often. Of course you've all read Rated F ... right? That's the book I wrote. Buy it now, because a second printing is coming and you want to own an original. I'm not supposed to talk about the new version that's coming soon, so don't tall anyone. Sorry, PUB Guy! (Don't worry. Nobody reads this blog anyway.)

The first book in Todd's Book club is Lucky You by Carl Hiassen. His style reminds me of a smart ass author ... kind of like me, I guess. This book talks about a bunch of crooked, foolish criminals trying to steal a winning lottery ticket. It reminds me of the types of characters found in movies like Fargo and Blood Simple. Dark humor is one of my favorites, and Hiassen delivers it in large amounts.
