And now ... December

What is Santa bringing you for Xmas? Hopefully it's some prizes from X96's X Amounts of Xmas Crap contest.

Here are some pictures of my additions to the prizes.

This is from my football officiating gear. It's a genuine penalty flag. You could win this and then call holding on anyone you want.

And from my model railroad in my basement, this is an HO scale center-beam flat car.

Listen Monday morning at 7 am for the first X Amounts of Xmas Crap song. All crap winners are qualified for a concert trip to Florida, paid for by Interscope Records.

Best Song of 2006

God. When I typed the title of this post, I accidentally put "1996" as the year. Oh well. It's not 7 am yet and I'm doing this from home. Blame it on the lack of coffee.

We want to know what your favorite song of 2006 was. Post your comments below, please.

10:20 am "Alive" Peal Jam (Another dedication for my pal Don Mitchell who is recovering from an accident involving a drunk driver fleeing from police. Don had scrawled the lyric from this song "I'm still alive" across his door in the apartment that he and I shared with a couple of other dudes in Provo back in 1993.)

1:20 pm "Merry Christmas" The Ramones (I love punk rock Christmas songs!)

X Amounts of Xmas ... Crap!

We pissed away our promotional budget for 2006. It's gone. We should have raised ticket prices for the Big Ass Show, but we didn't. You know how the end of the year can be. You run out of money.

But we wanted to do something for you for the holidays. That's why we are proud to give you X Amounts of Xmas Crap. It's just like X Amounts of Cash, except the prize is crap that we have piled in our cubicles. A rubber chicken. An old sausage. An HO scale freight car from my model railroad at home. Corey O'Brien's 3-hole punch. Junk like that. Listen every weekday starting Monday and you could win!

It's not all pure crap. We have autographed guitars, a Snow Patrol snowboard, a Red Hot Chili Peppers custom iPod, and other goodies like that. And everyone who wins the daily prize is qualified to win a trip to Florida to see a concert. (That prize is provided by Interscope Records. See? We really are cheap bastards.)

It starts Monday at 7 am with Radio From Hell.

Get Well Don Q!

My old friend Don Q was involved in a serious automobile accident a couple of weeks ago, and in that time he's made a significant recovery. Thank god we're using the word "recovery" because it was truly scary for a few days. He still has many days in the hospital ahead of him, but things appear to be positive at this point.

Still, it's rough to see him in this condition. What's better, though, is seeing his friends rallying around him. He has lifelong friends who love him and have arrived from out of state to be by his side. His family has been there all along, too.

I hate to sound warm and holiday-like, but it shows you just how much family and friends truly mean.

Don and I were roommates back in my living in Provo days. I remember a Pearl Jam quote that he had written across his door in our apartment. "I'm still alive..." You're goddamned right, buddy. You're goddamned right.

Continue to get well, Don! We love you!
