Dashboard Confessional
The new Dashboard Confessional album Dusk & Summer is in stores now and it's pretty damn good. There are even a couple songs that rock a bit more than Dashboard ever has, but purists shouldn't be alarmed. You get a good mostly-acoustic song in the mix as well.
And all the songs are catchy enough to get stuck in your head.
That's my opinion, anyway.

Yesterday I attended an Amber Alert training meeting hosted by the Utah Attorney General's office. There were a few news anchors there like Bob Evans from Fox 13. Ed Smart gave a speech as well. I voiced my opinion that law enforcement sometimes activates the Amber Alert when it's not a child abduction, but a trailer trash domestic dispute. I think that too many Amber Alerts will cause the public to ignore them if a truly desperate situation should arise. Remember the alert that was issued in Sugarhouse based on what a person saw across 4 lanes of traffic in a strip mall? There was no child reported missing, no other witnesses, no concrete information at all. Remember the North Ogden alert where it was a domestic couple fighting, and the father had every right to have the child with him?
It's like the boy who cried wolf.
Fortunately, this training was for law enforcement and new guidelines have been put into place.
We all want Amber Alerts to work, but too many frivolous alerts will render them about as useless as a car alarm and nobody will pay attention.

Come to think of it, that beer did taste funny.
Good analogy Todd.
By the way your car alarm is going off...
