Valentine's Day Blows
Don't get me wrong. I love you. I always have. It's just that I don't need some stupid yearly event to dictate when my affection should be shown.
Ban Valentine's Day. It's lame. It's fake. It means nothing.
Today is a day for abusive losers to ask forgiveness with flowers.
But I love you. And I'd tell you that any day of the year.

I agree to a point with you Todd, but it seems like a lot of men need to be "forced" into showing thier significant other how much they care for them...maybe not you or I, but I know guys who never ever show or say it.
Why women have lashed themselves to these guys is a whole different blog though. You know "I love him even though hit me with his car" types.
Yea, I agree. I find it hard to comprehend sometimes why people will be with someone when they are being abused (and i leave it general because abuse isn't always a guy hitting a girl, it goes both ways, and is not always physical).
I also think it's lame that Valentines day is characterized by "roses and diamonds." There has been only one girlfriend of mine that I have bought roses for on V-day, and that was because she really just loves roses (i bought her roses for her b-day and christmas too).
I think a lot of people don't get valentines day, and I think a lot of people do get it. People who don't get it expect roses and expect everyone to remember it. People who do get it may or may not remember it, but no matter what they do, they make it special.
But then again, the people who probably do get it, do the exact same thing every day, roses or not. Maybe it calls for a little something extra like roses or dinner, but it should not be some "all of the sudden out pouring of love and affection." If it is, then something is wrong.
