"Celebrity" Showdown At Lonestar In Centerville
Last night Mrs. Nuke 'Em and I went to dinner at Lonestar in Centerville. Since my buddy Zack is employed there, it is fairly known among the staff that I'm the idiot that works at X96. The restaurant was crowded last night, and it took them a few minutes to get us seated. Cody, our server, did an excellent job taking care of us during the hectic night.
Last night, however, a guy that looked like meteorologist Sterling Poulson from KUTV News sat at a table across the room. I'm pretty sure it was him, although it's hard to tell when there isn't a map of storm clouds and high pressure systems filling a television screen behind him. Anyway, it turned into a game to see which local media "celebrity" would get better service. The last thing anyone wants to see is a fit where one has to say, "Don't you know who I am?"
I tried to photograph him with my phone, but the lighting just wasn't good enough and the picture didn't turn out.
The kitchen worked hard to get our salads ready, and I'm pleased to say that I got mine first. Also, we got an extra bread loaf because of the slight delay. Sterling's entree arrived just a few minutes before ours, but his salads arrived AFTER his dinner.
So here's the final score:
Sterling: 1 point for dinner arriving before mine.
Todd: 1 point for extra bread, 1 point for timely salad (my wife had soup), 1 point for extra care by our waiter, 1 point for assistance by Coleman ( a busser, and X96 listener.)
Yes, I clearly won the local media "celebrity" showdown at the Lonestar.
Many thanks to the servers, greeters, and busboys at Lonestar in Centerville for excellent service.
(Please understand that I don't consider myself a celebrity or anything special. I'm the first to admit that I'm just a geek who is fortunate enough to have a cool job. Nor do I expect special treatment or anything like that. It's just funny to see another local media personality in a normal situation. Hey, it caused me to attempt a picture of him on my camera phone. How many times has that happened to me when I'm at Dick's Market buying toilet paper and Immodium?)

10:20 am "Hurt" Johnny Cash (Popular country radio stations have ignored Mr. Cash for the last two decades, choosing to air garbage like "Red Neck Woman" instead of the brilliant music that Johnny Cash has recently made. Shame on country radio. I have to help them do their jobs by playing Cash on X96.)
1:20 pm "Tribute" Tenacious D
Oh yeah...
I'm gonna be broadcasting live in Orem tonight at the Best Buy at 309 East University Parkway from 7 to 9.
If you're bored, come and say hi. They're having a big Halo 2 tournament. I'll even have some free X96 crap to give away.

Bite your tongue Todd, you are definately a local celeb. I would recognize you before that Sterling Poulson any day...
and that has nothing to do with my stalking you for the last 5 years.
will you autograph some of your garbage for me?
Thanks for playing the Johnny Cash, Todd.
On other stations not playing Johnny, I must channel my inner Stewie and inquire, "What the Deuce?!" Not even Eagle is doing it?
That IS A TRAVESTY!!
Danny,
Your knowledge and taste in good music far exceeds your age.
You do, most sincerely, rock.
Todd. You mention a Mrs. Nukem so it is my understanding that you are married. Had you ever been bi-sexual or homosexual while you were in High School or College. Just needing some clarification on a rumor I once heard from some friends that knew you.

after talking with coleman today... he got in a load of trouble for coming to talk to you. The manager pulled him into his office and asked him why the... *bleep*... he was talking to Todd Nuke'em and harassing the customers.
Sheesh. They treat us just wonderful down there...
I think that you are the most deserving local celebrity and would definitely take a picture with my camera phone, if I had one.
