fight corporate publishers

For the past couple of months, a book offer with a bigger publisher was pending for RATED F. This came about because of the book's sales performance. Thank you for your support, by the way.

The publisher hesitated because the book is "...a little ... different."

I say that book publishers FCCing suck!

Here I am, rejected again.

Todd, sit down and let me tell you a story. Madeliene L'Engles, she wrote the classic A Wrinkle In Time, sent her book all over the place until she finally found a publisher who wanted it. (Thankfully! I mean, I can't imagine my life without this book. But that's another story.) And then it won the Newbery Medal. She had one editor say, "Why didn't you send your book to me?" L'Engle replied that she had. The editor didn't believe her, so Madeliene showed the editor her journal where she'd written about sending the book and it being rejected by that particular publisher.

The moral of the story is you need to save that rejection letter so that you can make them eat it later when you're world famous and the publisher whines that you never talked to them.

We love you, Todd!

PS, I love that Nirvana song. Brings back memories of being rejected in high school. Well, I had the last laugh. She married me! :)

todd,

it totally pisses me off that they didn't accept your book. you're really close man... seriously. Ask any of your blog fans that have read Rated F, or anyone that has read Rated F for that matter. Good--exuse me--excellent reviews all around. It's definitely one of my favorites too.

It's just a matter of time until they realize what they've let go. I don't doubt in the least the potential your books have. It's all in your message that they carry, and how real it is. If it's too real for some people to accept... FCC them.

You rock,

-Zack
