The Dukes Of Hazzard

Okay. I admit it. I am part of a generation that learned how to jump cars over rivers and to drive like a maniac screaming "Yahoo!" as the befuddled police crash their cars in failed attempts to capture you.

I even had a Dukes of Hazzard lunch box in sixth grade. (It depicted Bo and Luke Duke leaping through the windows of their '69 Dodge Charger--complete with a Hemi, by god.)

I had to see the motion picture. I knew it would be insipid, silly, and complete candy--a perfect way to put my brain on "pause" after a long Saturday. And it was all that. Silly car chases, and more redneck fun than the television series ever dared. It was stupid, delightfully stupid. I knew it would be. And I loved every corny bit of it.

But my question to the couple that got up and walked out after about forty minutes is this: WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU EXPECTING? It was the Dukes of Hazzard for god's sake.

Go see it. But don't bring your brain--you won't need it. And that's the point.
